‘This
valley has known many lives.
The Hills have echoed many cries.’
In
early 2004, Townhill Community School won the ‘Josef
Herman Foundation Award’ to work with Welsh artist
Keith Bayliss.
This enabled the school, pupils and teachers to benefit, both
from having the experience of working with a Welsh artist
first hand, together with the opportunity to examine the work
of the artist Josef Herman who spent many years living
and painting in Wales.
Due to the success of the project and the positive responses
from pupils, it was felt that these achievements should be
celebrated and disseminated to others. Not only in the field
of education, but for all who are interested in the ‘growing
and developing’ stages of creativity related to producing
satisfying artwork.
It was with this intention, that these ideas have been designed
to give an insight into the various aspects of the project,
together with any anecdotal remarks which were felt to be
useful or pertinent to the reader.
