ABOUT THESE
PAGES (Please read)
These pages have been designed to help students, and others, to
gain a better understanding of art, artists and their work. By looking
at images, the artist and context we can begin to formulate a critical
understanding of work and gain a greater sense of enjoyment from
looking at art.
For the purpose
of this exercise we have decided to concentrate upon the analysis
of images. Wherever possible we have used the work of artists based
in Wales, to encourage a 'Welsh' context to the task.
Each page
will contain an image which you are encouraged to interact with
by using basic computer and Internet skills. Some images contain
'rollover' elements (see the example below),

"Shrine" by Brenda Oakes
whilst others
require a click or other action to progress (see below)

Please take
your time touring this section and, above all, enjoy!

All the topics
selected for study (on the right) need to be placed in CONTEXT.
When studying
art there are a number of other topics which need to be considered.
The CONTEXT (see right) of the image and SYMBOLIC MEANING
(if appropraite) should be included in your analysis.
