Patrick's photographic work is an
exploration of Wales, its landscape and its struggle to emerge
as an independent political entity in an increasingly centralised
geopolitical system. Metaphysical Archaeology, his first exhibition
at Oriel Lliw, Pontardawe in July 2002, included an examination
of the relationship between the deserted sites of South Wales'
industrial history and the sports landscapes that currently
occupy them. In this he perceives an allegory with the way in
which Wales' past can hinder the transition to a future state.
